Chapters and Councils
  • Three or more active members may apply to the Executive Committee for a charter as a Chapter in a form approved by the Executive Committee.
  • Each new Chapter must affiliate with the Council of their choice upon issuance of a Charter by the Executive Committee. All existing or Unattached Chapters must affiliate with the council of their choice by February 1, 1997. (Revised 3/23/96)
  • In the event a Chapter is refused affiliation by a council, the Executive Committee shall designate which Council the Chapter shall be affiliated with for a period of one (1) year. At the end of the one year period, the Chapter shall be allowed to apply for affiliation with any other Council. (Revised 3/23/96)
  • In the event that a charter request by a Chapter is refused by the ExecutiveCommittee, the requesting Chapter shall have the right to petition the Board of Directors of PDCA for a Charter at the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board. (Revised3/23/96)
  • Should membership in any Chapter fall below three (3) members, PDCA has the right to curtail or eliminate services to said chapter. (Revised 3/23/96)
  • Councils shall consist of at least two (2) Chapters both of which have at least three (3) Active Members, or not less than ten (10) Active Members. (Revised 3/23/02)
  • A Chapter may change its Council affiliation upon written notice to its presently affiliated Council one (1) year prior to changing Council affiliation, and upon approval by the Council to which affiliation is sought and by the Board of Directors. (Revised3/23/96)
  • Application for a Council Charter shall be made to the National Office in writing together with a copy of the Council’s proposed Bylaws in a form approved by the Executive Committee and a list of services to be provided to their members and Chapters. The Board of Directors shall rule on such application at its next regularly scheduled meeting. If no action is taken, the application shall be automatically approved. (Revised 3/23/96)
